ARKYN
Ten winters old, Arkyn has grown up within the protective arms of the settlement. He spends most of his time searching for dangerous places to play, usually with Garran, Alys and Senni. He dreams of the day his father Hanserik will take him hunting in the Frozen Forest.
GARRAN
Son of the settlement chief

Dreams of becoming chief himself
GARRAN
Arkyn and Garran grew up together, but that doesn’t make them best friends. He is the son of Dorregan, the chief, and dreams of the day he will lead the settlement. Garran wishes his father would catch a norwolf, giving him something to boast about.
ALYS
The elder twin · Sharp eye & quick mind
Loyal to Senni and her friends
Wants to master her mother’s forest medicine
ALYS
The eldest of the twin sisters, Alys has a sharp eye and quick mind. Fiercely loyal to her ‘little’ sister and her friends, she dreams of matching her mother’s skill in forest medicine. For now, she keeps Arkyn out of too much trouble.
SENNI
Younger twin · Full of energy
Loves mischief & daring challenges
Dreams of ignoring Garran as chief
SENNI
A bubbling ball of energy, Senni loves to make Garran angry. With curly white hair and bright blue eyes, she never resists a perilous challenge. She dreams of the day Garran becomes chief—so she can ignore him.

NORWOLF
Larger and more ferocious than wolves, norwolves roam the Frozen Forest and thrive in its hostile conditions. Hunters prize them greatly—dead or alive—and anyone with a norwolf tail wins instant bragging rights.

The only creature a norwolf fears. Firehawks are infamous for their tempers and deadly talons. Strangely, one has appeared near Arkyn’s settlement—despite its hatred of the cold.

Few have ever seen a tigerfox, though tales of its beauty are legendary. Alys and Senni recall hearing its call during a moonlit forage—but when it echoed through the settlement, they remembered an ancient curse.
